We’re getting married… TODAY! Surprise!!
By Tara Andrews
This has got to be one of my favorite surprise wedding ideas. Meegan and Jean-Louise invited over one hundred of their closest friends and family to an “engagement party” only to surprise them with a spontaneous wedding ceremony THAT DAY!
How fun would that be? I love this shot of the wedding party who just found out that they are actually going to be bridesmaids today, not just party guests.
And here, the guests are realizing that she is in a wedding dress, and she is being led down an aisle – she’s getting married today – right now!!
The happy couple following the ceremony.
Let the party begin!!

More Stunning Wedding Portraits
By Tara Andrews
Halifax has so many beautiful niches and cozy corners. There is one in particular that literally lights up during the night. The trees in front of the Marriot Harbourside are wrapped with thousands of tiny white lights and every night they light up the sidewalk in front of The CUT Steakhouse & Urban Grill on Lower Water street.
I have often thought these tiny twinkling torches would make a beatiful backdrop and Liam from Applehead Studio was able to capture them in one of his wedding portrait photographs. They frame the bridal party perfectly.
Halifax also has hundreds of beautiful historic buildings and just to the left of the above picture is the Alexandre Keith’s Brewery built in the early 1830s with beautiful stonework that has amazing texture. Liam was able to get an amazing shot with the bride and groom in front of this stone. An overhead lamp creates a dramatic spotlight on the couple as they lean in for a kiss. Great work Liam!

The Romantic Europe Photo Shoot
By Tara Andrews
Reading one of my favorite wedding blogs, stylemepretty, I stumbled on the photography of Stacey Reeves and the uber romantic photo shoot she had with Abby and Zach. Abby and Zach traveled throughout Europe on their honeymoon. There is nothing more romantic than a night shot of the bride and groom with the brightly lit Tour Eiffel (Eiffel Tower) behind them or kissing in famous archways.
The most romantic event in this couple’s European vacation was in Italy. As Stacey writes in her blog post:
“If you ever travel to the Ponte Vecchio in Florence, you’ll see hundreds of padlocks along the river, with initials scribbled onto the sides. As legend goes, if you write your initials and your beloved’s initials onto a lock, attach the lock to a city fixture, then toss the key into the river, you’re destined to be together forever.”
I know what you’re thinking – so romantic! So, Abby and Zach decided to do just that in every city they visited. These shots are from the Grand Canal.
Thanks for the fantastic photos Stacey, and thanks to Abby and Zach for such an amazing honeymoon and being willing to let the photos go onto Stacey’s blog.

Serious About Trashing the Wedding Dress? Then Burn It!!
By Tara Andrews
This is my favorite trash the dress photo that I have ever seen!! Bride Cheryl and photographer Liam from Applehead Studio in Halifax, Nova Scotia chose the ultimate destruction for trashing Cheryl’s dress – fire. The resulting photo from the shoot is striking.
I love how the light of the fire gives Cheryl a nice warm glow. Thanks Cheryl and Liam for being willing to burn the dress for the shoot. It took a lot of courage knowing that you only get one chance to get the shot you’re looking for!!
